OCC Sketch Challenge 30

Evening Stampers,

I was again blog surfing and came across the OCC Sketch Challenge site, and decided to give this one a go.

I can tell you i'm not happy with the outcome, i feel it's missing something.

Once again i had a go at water-coloring, and this time it turned out not too bad, i'm getting better.

The little tag was made using the SU Scallop Punch and cutting the top and bottom scallops off leaving 3 scallops on each end - and this is just a little bit smaller than the new  SU modern label Extra large punch (available from tomorrow in the new SU IB&C)

Card:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red.
Stamps:  Vintage Vogue, Bud Basics.
Ink:  Real Red, Black Stazon
Other: Real Red Ribbon, Dimensionals, CB So Swirly Die, Stick on Pearls, Aqua Painter, Real Red Marker, Copic C-1 Marker

Here's to a great week ahead.

The other night i received a phone call asking if i would do a special card for a good friend of my mother's, she is celebrating her 60th birthday this week.

After looking through blogs and splitcoasters for great ideas, i came across a fantastic design, it was just what i was looking for.
So i CASEd it, however i did make a couple of subtle changes. Take a look at the original here.

 Anyway here is my card.

Stamps:  Vintage Vogue, SU Numbers, Happy Moments

Flowers to brighten your day

Hello stampers.

Today has been a miserable day here in Hamilton, and i can tell you i feel just as bad, darn head cold.

Clean and simple stamping have released another sketch,

With my head feeling like cotton wool i gave it a go. I really like this sketch, i might even have another go at it once my head clears and i can think clearly.

Without further ado here is my card.
Im not sure if it turned out like i wanted it to. it seem a little plain so i added the ribbon, threading it through the loops on the edge.
Most of the people who know me and my creations know i like punch art, in fact i have nearly all of the SU punches. I find that my cutting out isnt the best, so if i can punch it i will do.

Card:  Rose Red, Whisper White, Green Galore (retiring), Barley Banana
Stamps:  Wonderful favorites
Ink:  Soft Suede
Other:  White ribbon, Dimensionals, Sml oval punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, Fiskers border punch.

Techno Stamper Pt2

As promised here is the other card i made for this weeks Techno Stamper's challenge.

I always manage to get at least one part not straight, but these are hand made right,  i have enough critics around me to point out these flaws. Especially hubby he hate things that are not straight they drive him mad. So for a little bit of fun i like to move pictures in the home of center and see how long it takes him to notice, ain't i naughty, but it's fun.

See the link in yesterdays post to see what the other players have come up with and to see the sketch.

FTL 104 Challenge

I hope everyone's weekend was a great one.

I had a busy weekend. Saturday was spent doing my usual book/paperwork down at our business, then home to keep warm and dry. It sure was a cold day

Sunday was spent on a bush trek with our scout group, we went out to the fantastic Maungatautari Reserve, which is out the back of Kihikihi. What a great place to go if you and family like to take in the scenery, it is a reserve in which is surrounded by 47kms of fence to keep out the mice and other pests, they have kiwi's roaming free, and if your lucky enough you will find a Kiwi nest as they are nesting at the moment, and the bird life is just wonderful to see and watch.
Want to know more look them up at this link Maungatautari.

Anyway over at Clean & Simple they have a new sketch.
Click here to have a look at this weeks challenge/sketch.

Card; Whisper White, Basic Black, Melon mambo

Easy bow tutorial

Yesterday i posted a card in which i used an easy technique to make a bow.
today i will (try) to explain how i did it

i used SU double rectangle punch and punched where i wanted the bow to be

next thread the ribbon through from the front towards the back of the card

turn your card over, cross the ribbon over and push through the opposite sides. Once you have done this turn your card over to the front and you have the makings of a simple knot, cut the ends now if you want this look.

To make the loop, push the ribbon ends back through the same slot you just pulled them through, leaving a loop.

So i hope this was clear enough to follow, this was my first attempt at a photo tutorial

...With Sympathy

This afternoon i was given the news that a friends grandmother had died this morning.
I know her as i work part time in a rest home as a personal assistant, and have had the pleasure of looking after her daily needs on a few occasions.

So as i didn't have a pre-made card and on hand (as i normally do) i had to make one, again i gave the sponging a go, and i'm not sure if i like the results. Mind you i did it in a rush, and sponging takes patience and time to get the flow right.

The inspiration came for this card from Sharlene Meyer, i CASED a creation she did some time ago on her blog. Click here to go over to her blog to have a look at the original card and the rest of her fantastic creations.

Here is my attempt.
The bow is made using my Double Rectangle punch (retiring next month). if i can work out how to put it up in photo steps, i will do so as this is a great way to create a bow

Card: Chocolate chip, Whisper White
Stamps:  Pocket silhouettes, montagra "with sympathy"Stamp
Ink:  Chocolate Chip, versamark, Basic Black
Other:  SU punch, Embossing powder, heat tool, Dimensionals, SU Choc Chip Ribbon, SU Matt Pack

.....As i mop my tears,

Afternoon all,
Well after the very early start, it feels like it should be night not mid afternoon.
We all had to be up at Auckland airport to say goodbye our son/brother at 4am this morning, and being in Hamilton we had a real early start. But he got away with no problems, so all i need to hear is that he has arrived safely, then i can relax a little bit.

But back to the reason we all read these blogs, sharing the wonderful crafts we all make.
As i mentioned in an earlier post after a busy weekend i managed to fit in a card class.

Once a month, the ever so wonderful and talented Jacquelyn Pedersen  (click on this link to view her blog) comes down from Auckland, to teach us ladies a new technique or a wonderful gift idea to make.

This month we did some sponging, and using the SU Stamp set "lovely as a tree", we created this amazing card

Can you see the little hint of glitter, not too much as this is for a male, this is the second time i have had a go at background sponging, and i like the effect, i just to have a few more go's to perfect it a little more.

One for the men

Welcome back,

Well today has been one in which i will have to enjoy for some time.
As early tomorrow my son is leaving to go to Cairns, he will be gone for at least a month, we don't know when he will be back that depends on how things go in Aussie.
I will miss him big time,  he is my best mate and a great critic for the items i create.

Most mums experience a child leaving the nest when they are older, not at 15 (well almost 16), but tell me is it  easier if they are older.
He has been offered a great work experience, so who am i to stand in his way.

While enjoying his company and talking i managed to make this card for the new challenge over at Techno stamper

With father's Day and a couple of male birthday's coming up i thought i would tackle that ever so hard to make - male card.

Card/Paper:  Soft Suede, Whisper White, Windsor knot DSP, Sage Shadow.
Stamps: Happy moments, Short & sweet
Ink: Basic Black, Soft Suede, So Saffron
Other: SU punches, Black Ribbon, Dimensionals, Aqua painter,

Hello to all, i hope you all had a great weekend.

...........Wow what a busy weekend, between work, a stamp class, (yes i fitted in a stamp class, tell you more about it tomorrow), great family time and  a late evening card creation........... only to have an even busier week start.

Over at the site Clean & Simple they have posted a new challenge, so pop over to have a look and maybe play along.

As i mentioned i had a late evening creation session, yes there is proof that it was late.

I like how this turned out, but as you can see there have been a couple of late evening issues.
Turn your head a little and the sentiment will be straight

I braved a bit of water colouring this is not a favourite technique of mine as i normally have a lot of trouble, but i am happy with the outcome.

Thank goodness it's Friday..........

It has been a really long week, and i didn't even remember that it was Black Friday until later on this afternoon. But in a small way it has gone too fast, My Son is leaving to go live in Australia for 4-6 weeks next Wednesday (maybe longer), and dear mum is going to miss him alot. (he is only 15).

So the Weekend will be all about family time, so the crafting will have to wait.

Here is a card i have managed to finish for the Techno Stamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge
Here is the Sketch,

go and have a look and see what you can come up with.

Here is my version of the above sketch. I haven't done a baby card for a long time, so i thought why not.
